Born from Loss.
My name is Jess, and I am the heart, the hands, and the vision behind Elsewhere Travel Co. I started this business not because I needed something to do — but because I needed something to mean something.
Elsewhere was built quietly, tirelessly, and with every ounce of intention I had left during one of the hardest seasons of my life. It came to life in the middle of grief — real, heavy, perspective-shifting grief.
I lost my mom. And when you lose someone who was so deeply woven into your everyday, you don’t just lose a person. You lose the version of yourself who thought there was always more time. You lose the comfort of “someday.”
That loss broke something open in me. It made me ask questions I had been avoiding: What am I waiting for? Why do I keep putting the good things off? Why do we treat our dreams like they can wait — like life will pause long enough to let us get around to them?
Travel had always been something I loved — deeply and quietly. I had always found something sacred in the act of going somewhere new. In the way a new place strips away the noise and gives you back to yourself. In the freedom of being somewhere that doesn’t know your story yet.
So I took what I love. I combined it with what I lost. And I built something that felt like both a tribute and a promise.
Elsewhere Travel Co. is the result of all of that. It is my answer to a world that keeps telling us to wait. It is the business I had to build — and I am so grateful you’re here.
